Odawa Casino has decided to split the donations raised between two local charities, the McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund and the Charlevoix Area Hospital Circle of Strength. McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund provides mammograms and other diagnostic services to uninsured or underinsured women and supports breast health educational programs in the community. The Charlevoix Area Hospital Circle of Strength is a Cancer Resource Program that provides education and emotional support as well as financial assistance with mammograms, diagnostic tests and other treatment expenses for those in need. This program is run by a group of volunteers that help patients, families, and friends through the challenging times after a cancer diagnosis.
Members of the community can help raise donations by making purchases at Odawa Casino. Guests that earn 200 base points on slot games can swipe at the kiosk for a donation voucher and Odawa Casino will make a $4 donation. $1 will be donated from every dinner buffet purchased at Waas-no-dé Buffet on Mondays and Tuesdays in October. Purchase a "Play for Pink" shirt at the Quill Box gift shop for $15, $10 of the purchase will be donated. Quill Box gift shop also offers an assortment of Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer items for $2, of which $1 will go to charity. For every Budweiser product sold during the month of October, Huron Distributors will donate a percentage of sales to the two charities.
Odawa Casino Team Members can raise money by purchasing the "Play for Pink" fundraiser t-shirt to wear on select days and can bring in spare change and donate to the 'Pennies for the Girls' water jug.
